ABOUT THE CONFERENCE 

The scientific committee of the Worldwide Initiative on Social Studies of Hemoglobinopathies in collaboration with the Brazilian Ministry of Health and the Global Sickle Cell Disease Network held the Second Global Congress on Sickle Cell Disease.

This conference included presentations on the social aspects of sickle cell and thalassaemia from academics and practitioners representing disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, social policy, social medicine, public health, genetic counseling, nursing, social work, politics, health services research, health economics, social history, social epidemiology, medical humanities, psychology, human geography, and law and ethics.
